Comment: Teaching Irish-American History

I HAVE TAUGHT a graduate colloquium in Irish-American history for a number of years, a one semester undergraduate lecture course survey of Irish-American history, and I am currently teaching a course "Famine Irish Immigrants and Their Children: A Case Study." My approach varies a great deal in those three courses, obviously, but I will try to lay some of the basic principles that guide my teaching and suggest how they do, or do not, fit with the points Kevin Kenny has made.
